Welcome to Pittsburg State University! As a new Benefits Eligible Unclassified Employee of PSU and the Kansas State Board of Regents, you will be provided with lots of information about employment with the State of Kansas.
New employees should report to Human Resources Services, 204 Russ Hall, on or before the first day of work to complete the necessary forms and obtain instructions on how to get an ID card, computer access and login, and parking permit.
Following is an outline of paperwork to complete to place you on payroll and topics which should be reviewed as part of your new employee orientation.
New employees are also encouraged to attend special programs presented by HRS for new employees as they are scheduled. If you have any questions about these topics, please contact your supervisor or Human Resource Services.
On or before your first day at work:
- Complete the following required paperwork and bring with you to the Office of Human Resource Services, 204 Russ Hall:
- Employee Information Sheet (Word) (PDF)
- Oath of the State of Kansas
- W-4 Federal Income Tax Withholding
- K-4 Kansas Income Tax Withholding
- Compensatory Time Agreement for Non-Exempt Employees
- State of Kansas Tax Clearance Program Employee Acknowledgment - review the State of Kansas Tax Clearance Program then complete the Employee Acknowledgment
- Substance Abuse Policy Affirmation Form - review the Substance Abuse Policy then complete the Affirmation Form
- Complete the following paperwork and bring with you to HRS:
- Direct Deposit (EFT) Authorization - Form available in the HRS office (Russ 204). Please bring a deposit slip or voided check - for more information review Direct Deposit of Paycheck
- 9 Pay 12 Salary Option Agreement - this is available to 9-month faculty only - review the 9 Pay 12 Salary Payment Option information
- Prepare to complete the following required paperwork in the Office of Human Resource Services by reviewing the following topics:
- I-9 Form - please bring appropriate identification
- Life Insurance Beneficiary Forms - bring names, addresses and date of birth of beneficiaries
- Group Health Insurance Enrollment (please note that there is a 30-day waiting period for participation in the Group Health Insurance Program) - bring names, social security numbers, date of birth and proof of relationship (marriage license, birth certificate) of spouse and/or dependents to be enrolled in GHI.
- Review the different Health Insurance programs for more information on selecting a health care program.
- Review the Prescription Drug program - this program is included in the health insurance premium.
- Review the Dental Insurance program.
- Review the Vision Service Plan.

- Obtain a PSU Parking Hanger from the University Police and Public Safety Services Office. Fees for parking vary according to Zone.

Payroll is processed on a biweekly basis. All employees (University Support Staff, Unclassified, Graduate Assistants and Students) must sign up for Direct Deposit. Paycheck stubs are available on GUS. - Leave Information

During your first week at work:
- Obtain a PSU Photo Identification Card from the Ticket Office located in 109 Whitesitt Hall.
- Obtain a Computing System Login, E-Mail account and GUS Pin from the Office of Information Services located in 109 Whitesitt Hall.

- Meet with your supervisor to review your position description. Also establish goals for your 6-month review period.
