2,915 miles, 15 days, 9 cities, 6 states, and 103 alumni and friends – these are just a few stats from our recent Great Gorilla Tour: 2023 Edition.
Gus Gorilla, former Director Jon Bartlow, and Assistant Director Bethanne Elliott visited alumni and friends during a two-week road trip. We had previously visited cities in the south and on the west coast, so for this trip we decided to head north and then across to the east coast, hosting alumni in St. Louis, Peoria, IL, Chicago, Holland, MI, Detroit, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., and Nashville. These locations are ones we don't often have the opportunity to visit and are so glad we did – Pittsburg State is lucky to have the best alumni in the world, but it has been particularly rewarding to have the opportunity to reengage those we see on a less frequent basis!
Alumni events called Gorilla Gatherings’ were held in each location. These gatherings featured an evening of food, updates on building projects, innovative partnerships and noteworthy accomplishments, prizes, and networking. These events allowed alumni to reconnect and meet fellow Gorillas in their areas. Our goal was to bring a little piece of Pittsburg State to its alumni – near or far – and we hope our alumni enjoyed meeting with us as much as we enjoyed meeting with them.
