  • Course Dates: Contact the School of Nursing at 620-235-4431 for course dates and times.
  • Certified AHA Instructors: Dr. Barbara Mcclaskey, Dr. Kristi Frisbee, and Cortney Neblett
  • Location: McPherson Hall, Pittsburg State University
  • Note: All courses require advanced registration prior to admittance and approval by the School of Nursing.
  • All cards issued are valid for two years, and students will receive their e-card via e-mail by the American Heart Association within one business day of the attended class.
  • Replacement Cards: Replacement course cards for those that have been lost and that are still current-$5.00.
  • For entry into a renewal course: students must present a current AHA card. If the card is not presented at the time of class, the price of the class shall be the same as for an initial course. Enrollment for renewal courses must occur within 30 days from expiration of current BLS card. 
  • Full Health Care Provider: $75.00
    • Covers Adult, Child, and Infant BLS as well as the AED, Choking, Bag Mask Ventilation
  • Health Care Provider Renewal: $50.00
    • Covers Adult, Child, and Infant BLS as well as the AED, Choking, Bag Ventilation.
  • Blended Learning Skills Check-offs: $25.00
    • Covers skills testing of Adult/AED, and Infant BLS; students must show completion certificate from the online portion and enroll in skills validation within 30 days of online completion.
  • Heart Saver in Schools: Price TBA
    • Covers Adult, Child and Infant BLS, Choking
    • Audience: Students in middle school
  • Family and Friends: Price TBA
    • Covers Adult, Child, and Infant BLS, Choking
    • Audience: Anyone wanting to know basics of life saving
  • All payments must be paid prior to entry into the course. Payments on the day of the course must be approved with an authorized instructor for the course.
  • *A separate deposit of $15 is required for check-out of provider manuals. This will be refunded when the book is returned to School of Nursing in good condition.
  • Refunds: Refunds shall be issued when a request for a refund is made no later than 2 days prior to the date of the class (exception: course cancellation). Request for a refund the day of the class may not be granted.
  • Rescheduling: Request for rescheduling of a class must be made no later than 2 days prior to the date of the class that is scheduled (exceptions: personal illness, course cancellations and other requests as granted by approved instructor for the course).
  • *IF YOU DO NOT FEEL SAFE TRAVELING DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, PLEASE CALL AND RESCHEDULE.
  • If the course is canceled due to weather conditions, students will be notified. Cell phone or e-mail address needed on application. If cancellation occurs, the student will be given a full refund or rescheduled in the next available class.
