To accommodate the number of graduates as well as friends and family, Commencement takes place in four ceremonies, with each ceremony dedicated to one of Pittsburg State's four colleges as well as the Irene Bradley School of Nursing.

The schedule is as follows:

Livestreaming will make it possible for viewers from around the world to tune in at pittstate.tv.

In addition to the commencement exercises, colleges and departments hold other graduation-related events. The Department of Military Science will hold its Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 10, in the amphitheater of the PSU Veterans Memorial (inclement weather will move it inside the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts). The Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing will hold its Nurse Pinning Ceremony at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, in the Bicknell Center.

Many graduates, families, and friends also will be taking part in the tradition of ringing the Centennial Bell located at the southwest corner of Axe Library. The Centennial Bell will be available for ringing from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Half-Century Reunion

From 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, members of the Class of 1969 and their guests will gather for dinner at the Overman Student Center in the Crimson & Gold Ballroom for dinner, a presentation, and a live band featuring hits from the 1960s.

On Friday, they’ll enjoy breakfast with President Scott and his wife, Cathy Scott, followed by a morning of exploring campus and Pittsburg.

At noon, they’ll be inducted into the Half-Century Club in the Crimson & Gold Ballroom in a ceremony emceed by PSU Alumni Association Executive Director Jon Bartlow. They’ll receive their 50-year medallions from Scott, gather on the iconic marble staircase in Russ Hall for a class photo, and take a guided bus tour of campus and Pittsburg, including the Plaster Center, the Weede Athletic Complex, the Bicknell Center, and the Veterans Memorial — none of which existed when they attended school.

At Friday's 5:30 p.m. ceremony, Scott will recognize members of the Class of 1969.
