Area high school students have an opportunity for fun, food, and prizes thanks to the efforts of a Pittsburg State University student-led event planned for March 29 throughout Pittsburg.
The event, called SearchTheCity2.0, is a city-wide scavenger hunt that will kick off at 5 p.m. at Pittsburg High School and take students to local business host sites throughout the community to complete challenges, find clues, and solve puzzles.
“Students will start in the gym and solve a clue to find their next destination,” said Kaitlin Barnett, a junior majoring in strategic communication who is helping plan the event. “Clues will continue to take students from destination to destination until they wind up back at PHS.”
Prizes and food are being donated by local businesses, as well, Barnett said.
The event is the brainchild of the PSU Foundations of Leadership class and is hosted by the Leadership Activities Board.
“It’s a means of learning how to cooperate and delegate within our committees, as well as practice event planning and reaching out to the community,” said Barnett, who is minoring in leadership studies. “This hands-on experience has been a lot of fun for all of us and we can’t wait to see how it turns out. We’re hoping for lots of teams to sign up for this event to be successful!”
To participate, students must register by March 27 at https://bit.ly/2USTRXu. SearchTheCity2.0 is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
