Block22housing

If you build it, will they come?

Yes.

Pittsburg State’s office of University Housing announced this week that the residential component of Block22 is officially full.

“We are incredibly excited to confirm that all 97 apartments have been spoken for,” said Connie Malle, director of University Housing. “The response from the students has been tremendous.”

Malle said Pittsburg State students still can sign up to be put on a waiting list to live at Block22.

“Even though we are currently full, we still encourage students to sign up if they have interest in living at Block22,” Malle said. “We do have a waiting list going, just in case one or more of the apartments ends up becoming available before the start of the semester.”

Each Block22 apartment comes fully furnished and features a full kitchen with all appliances, a washer/dryer combo and a private bathroom. Block22 features four distinct styles of apartments: flat, loft, studio and suite. There are 95 single-resident apartments and two two-bedroom suites.

Pittsburg State sophomore Kailey Pearson, one of the first students to secure a Block22 apartment, said she’s excited to live in Downtown Pittsburg.

“I think Block22 is going to be great for the city,” said Pearson, a graphic communication major. “The location is amazing, and I love that they’re preserving the historical aspects of the buildings. I think this is really going to liven up the downtown area.”

Block22 student-residents will move in to their apartments on Aug. 18, the date of Pittsburg State’s campus-wide Move-In Day.
