New International Student Orientation

Welcome! We are excited that you will soon join us at Pittsburg State University!

International Orientation

Orientation is more than just academic advising and registering for classes. It’s your official introduction to Pittsburg State University. Have fun, meet new people, learn about campus, and get acquainted with your new home away from home.

The Orientation Program is designed to assist new international students with their transition to Pittsburg State University and to the US. During orientation, students gain valuable insights about college life through small-group activities, attend informational sessions, meet with an academic advisor, and complete university enrollment procedures.

International students will be informed about many important areas of interest: academic and social matters, registration, enrollment, immigration issues, shopping, banking, housing, campus life, student clubs/activities, cultural adjustment, transportation, safety, health insurance, on-campus employment, and other matters particularly useful for international students.

Students will have a special welcome luncheon with PSU administration, attend dinners hosted by Pittsburg community groups, get settled into housing, enjoy campus tours, open a US bank account, activate their mobile phone, and have an opportunity to go shopping for supplies and household items.

Also during orientation, students will have the opportunity to sign up for the Pitt Pal program and Friendship Family program.

Students should check in immediately to room 118 Whitesitt Hall upon arrival to campus. For check-in, please bring your passport and I-20 or DS-2019. Students will receive a complete orientation schedule and further instructions at check-in.

Students should complete all the required Medical Forms before arriving at orientation.

The fee for the mandatory Orientation Program is $30.

IMPORTANT: All new international students must attend each day of the Orientation Program. Students will not be permitted to enroll in classes until they have completed the Orientation Program.
