Students in the Literature and Culture emphasis at our institution embark on a rich academic journey, delving into British, American, and International literatures through a diverse array of courses. From classics like Shakespeare and Jane Austen to more contemporary topics like Misfits & Monsters and Environmental Literature, students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of literary genres and cultural contexts.
In our small, discussion-based classes, students build meaningful relationships with professors and peers while immersing themselves in literary history and cultural analysis. Through detailed analysis, critical thinking, and research strategies, students develop essential skills that translate to various career paths. Most importantly, they engage deeply with human behavior and the diversity of human experience, gaining a profound understanding of fiction, poetry, drama, and other literary forms.
The Literature & Culture emphasis provides excellent preparation for any career that requires critical thinking, written and verbal communication, and/or the ability to work both independently and with other people.
