David Hogard, who earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration in 1993 and his Master’s of Business Administration in 1995, will begin on Jan. 8, 2024.
Hogard's career has been spent at Pitt State, beginning in 1995 when he was hired as the assistant director of Alumni Relations.
He has served as the assistant director for Experiential Education Programs and the assistant director for Employer Relations — both in the Office of Career Services — and as a professor in Kelce College of Business.
From 2018-2022, he was the director of Academic Advising & Career Readiness, and last fall he was named director of Academic Advising — a new position overseeing a new office.
In that position, he has developed and implemented programs and services to promote the academic success of undergraduate students, collaborated with Career Development and First Year Programs to improve student retention and persistence, assisted transfer students, and assisted the Assistant Vice President for Student Success in strategic planning and oversight of undergraduate program offerings.
“David’s depth and breadth of experience on this campus, the majority of it working directly with or on behalf of students, makes him the perfect choice for this position,” said Vice President Karl Stumo. “He is a wonderfully student-focused leader.”
Hogard also has experience in program development and management, staff supervision and training, and leadership development, and served as the faculty advisor for the Pitt State chapter of Future Business Leaders of America for many years.
“I am truly excited about this new opportunity at Pitt State,” Hogard said. “We are at a very pivotal time with some new leadership in place, alongside seasoned professionals working in new roles on some new initiatives. I look forward to working with all of them!”
Among his priorities: to work closely with Karl Stumo, vice president of Student Life and Enrollment Mangement, and the team in Admission to develop a clear focus and specific objectives to meet enrollment targets.
“We want to share the Pitt State story with all students interested in continuing their education. That story includes high quality academic and co-curricular programs as well as dedicated faculty and staff," Hogard said. “Ultimately, we want to be each student's first choice for their education."
Hogard is a member of numerous councils, committees, and leadership teams at the university and has served as a member of the Frontenac City Council and the Frontenac Education Foundation Board of Directors.
He and his wife Susan, an educator, live in Frontenac, and have two daughters, Kaylee and Anna. His wife and daughters also are Pitt State graduates.
