David Boffey


About

Dr. Boffey teaches Scientific Principles of Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics, and Kinesiology. He holds a BA from the University of California Santa Cruz, an MA in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University, and a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Central Florida. Prior to arriving at PSU, Dr. Boffey had a career as a personal trainer, strength coach, and fitness director. 

Dr. Boffey is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has published peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Military Medicine and The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, and presented at national conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Assistant Professor in the HHPR Department
  • Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the HHPR Department

Research Interests

Dr. Boffey’s main research interest is strength and power testing and training, including velocity-based training, for athlete and tactical populations.
