The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (HHPR) is located in the Student Recreation Center. We offer a accredited programs that fit your vibe in Exercise Science, Recreation, Sport and Hospitality Management, and Physical Education. Additionally, we offer minors and certificates, as well as a graduate program in Health, Human Performance, and Recreation. Each degree program features emphases and concentration areas, giving you the chance to work with our expert faculty and gain hands-on experience that will set you up for success—no matter your path!
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science will complete coursework in exercise testing and prescription.
Prepares future teachers and coaches with physical education theory and practice courses for PreK-12, plus professional education and teacher-focused minors.
A nationally accredited program prepares students to work in the ever-growing field of recreation offering undergradute and graduate programs.
The Applied Physiology Laboratory (APL) at Pittsburg State University serves as a student and research driven educational center dedicated to preparing students in the Exercise Science program to pursue careers as Physical and Occupational Therapists, Physicians, Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Specialists, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (NSCA-CSCS), Certified Clinical Exercise Specialists (CES) or Certified Personal Trainers (CPT), and/or Master’s or Doctoral Graduate Students.
