Program Objectives


  • Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
  1. Art Media Skills: Upon completion of our program students will create technically proficient works of art.
    *Technical proficiency includes mastering the use of formal elements of art and principles or organization within a composition; ability to work with a variety of media; knowing the qualities and limitations of each medium; and attaining a high level of craftsmanship.
  2. Conceptual Skills (Creative Artworks): Upon completion of our program students will create conceptually proficient works of art. 
    *Conceptual proficiency includes ideation and iteration to develop rich and multilayered content within works of art; relating abstract ideas and theory into visual forms; evaluation and explanation of works of art in both contemporary and historical context through critique.
  3. Contemporary and Past Cultures: Upon completion of our program students have a general knowledge of the historical and contemporary context of artworks from art history to promote awareness of art and its societal context.
  4. Professional Practices: Upon completion of our program students will work at a professional level and have the skills necessary to function independently as an artist or art teacher.
