The Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is designed to prepare both licensed and non-licensed teachers to work with English Language Learners in a variety of educational settings in the United States and around the world. Distinguish yourself in a competitive job market, both nationally and internationally, with a Master's degree in TESOL.

The MS TESOL program meets the coursework requirement for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages endorsement (PreK-12) to existing U.S. teaching license, however it does not result in a US teaching license. A valid US teaching license is required to add the endorsement. Passing ESOL Praxis™ score may also be required in some states.

This program is accredited by the CAEP and theKansas State Department of Education and meets DESE requirements for the state of Missouri.

Program features:

  • 30 hours (10 courses)

You will learn to:

  • teach English while teaching academic content
  • develop and differentiate curriculum
  • support students with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

Open to U.S. and international candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Foreign language knowledge not required
  • International students must meet one of the following language requirements:
    • TOEFL score of 550/79
    • IELTS overall band score of 6.5 with no band score below 5.5
    • PTE score of 53
    • Duolingo score of 110 with no section score below 100
