About Dr. Amber Tankersley

I am passionate about early childhood and preparing the next generation of early childhood professionals. My career began as a preschool teacher and later included serving as a director of childcare and preschool programs. These experiences continue to shape my teaching and allow me to bring real-world perspectives into the classroom. I especially enjoy working with undergraduate students, helping them connect what they learn in the classroom to the important work of supporting young children and their families.

My commitment to teaching and student success has been recognized through the 2015 Excellence in Teaching Award for the College of Arts and Sciences, the 2017 Excellence in Advising Award for the College of Arts and Sciences, and the 2025 Dr. Robert K. Ratzlaff Outstanding Faculty Award.
