Faculty Directed Research Within a Course Incentive
Faculty may apply for up to $1,000 to incorporate a faculty-mentored student research project inside a course by completing the application and attaching a full project description, budget, and budget justification as outlined in the instructions. Allowable expenses include equipment, consumables, and student stipends. Funds may not be used for faculty travel, faculty compensation, or any expenses not directly associated with the approved research project. Upon project completion, faculty must submit a report within two months detailing the project activities, student involvement, and resulting outcomes. Students participating in the project are required to present their findings at the PSU Research Colloquium.

Faculty may apply for up to $2,000 for a research award designed to advance a project in preparation for an external grant submission. Applicants must complete the application and attach a full project description, budget, and budget justification as outlined in the instructions. Faculty may include student researchers as part of the proposed project. Allowable expenses include equipment, consumables, and student stipends. Funds may not be used for faculty travel, faculty compensation, or any expenses not directly related to the approved research activities. Upon completion of the project, faculty must submit a report within two months detailing project activities, student involvement (if applicable), and project outcomes. Summer Faculty Research Award Incentive
Pittsburg State University’s Summer Faculty Research Award provides a taxable stipend of up to $10,000 to support focused faculty research or creative projects that enhance student learning and advance the University’s academic excellence. Applicants must submit a completed application along with a full project description, budget, and budget justification as detailed in the program instructions. Award funds may be used for faculty stipends (full or partial), equipment, consumables, and student stipends. Funds may not be used for faculty travel. Projects centered on consulting, teaching aids, curriculum development, professional practice outside academia, retooling for new courses, or online course development are not eligible.
Faculty who receive funding are required to submit a proposal for external funding within one year of completing their research activities. At the conclusion of the project, a final report must be submitted within two months, and any participating students are expected to present their work at the PSU Research Colloquium.
Research Proposal Preparation Incentive
Principal Investigators (PI)/Project Directors (PD) who received external funding of at least $25,000 or more may receive $1,000 in professional development funds. Upon receiving award notification from the funding agency, PI/PD must promptly apply for the Research Proposal Preparation Incentive. The application should include the award letter. Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) will review these applications and make final decisions based on available funding for this incentive.
Research Poster Printing Reimbursement
Departments or students may apply for reimbursement of student research poster printing services provided by PSU Printing and Design Services or PSU Graphics and Imaging Department for presentations at professional meetings/events. For reimbursement, complete the application below and attach all required documentation to the application. Funding is limited, so an application DOES NOT guarantee reimbursement.
For departments that paid for the student research poster printing services, please complete the application below. If approved, a correction will be processed to your department cost center that initially paid for the poster printing services.

The Travel Award supports faculty and researchers in presenting their research findings at conferences, thereby enhancing Pittsburg State University's visibility and impact within academic and professional communities.
