BSN application procedure
This application is ONLY for applicants that hold a RN license and want to complete the RN to BSN nursing program.
Pre-nursing application step. Complete the application for admission to Pitt State
Unless you are currently enrolled or have already applied at Pittsburg State University, you have to apply for admission and be accepted to Pitt State. Start application for admission or contact the Admissions Office (620) 235-4250.
Step 1. Start RN to BSN application
"Save and resume later" option is added to the application. This adds convenience to the process of applying to our nursing program.
Step 2. Application fee
Your application is not valid until we receive $115 application fee – Pay online. Alternatively, mail your check or money order payable to PSU:

Step 3. Send official transcripts
Transcripts from each college or university attended are to be mailed directly to Pittsburg State University, Office of the Registrar, 1701 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS. 66762. Transcripts must be received by the deadline.
Step 4. Purchase background check
Applicants are required to purchase a background check through CastleBranch. This is a National Background Check in your permanent state of residence. Download instructions
Step 5. Provide 3 months RN employment verification
Your supervisor will provide employment information on a company letterhead with a start date noted. You will need enter the supervisors name and email address in the application.
Step 6. If you not a resident of Kansas
- If you are a permanent resident of any state other than Kansas you are required to have a Kansas Bureau of Investigation Background Check. Complete the attached Kansas Central Repository Certified Record Check Request Form and return it to Kansas Bureau of Investigation, ATTN: Central Repository, 1620 SW Tyler, Topeka, KS 66612-1837 along with a check or money order for $30.00 payable to KBI Record Check Fee Fund. Step 7. Apply for General Scholarships
Nursing students have a multitude of scholarship opportunities. Unlock these opportunities by submitting your application for general scholarships, which opens on October 1st.
