Pitt State unveils 2017-18 Bicknell Center season

The Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University revealed its 2017-18 season on Thursday with a lineup that includes 16 performances featuring Tony Award-winning musicals, nationally renowned artists and family favorites.

“This year’s lineup reflects the full spectrum of the performing arts,” said Joe Firman, Bicknell Center director. “Spectacular Broadway musicals, intimate dramatic performances, renowned comedies, inspirational concerts; they’re all included in the 2017-18 season. It’s our most eclectic season yet.”

The season begins Sept. 14 with the opening of the “Student Perspectives” exhibit in the Bicknell Center Art Gallery. October brings the delightfully dizzying play “bobrauschenbergamerica,” the Southeast Kansas Symphony’s “Opening Night Concert,” and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “Rent.”

Season highlights include the Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker,” “Churchill: The Blitz,” the U.S. Air Force Academy Concert Band, “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” Illusionist Mike Super, Pitt State Theatre’s “Noises Off,” PSU Music’s “Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance,” and performances by the Southeast Kansas Symphony.

Tickets are on sale at the Pittsburg State ticket office located within the Weede Building, online at BicknellCenter.com or by calling 620-235-4796.
