PSU grad among nation's top young professionals

A Pittsburg State graduate is among the nation’s top young professionals in the field of construction.

The Engineering News-Record Southeast, a regional publication covering Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, has named Pitt State alumnus Derek Hoffine to its list of the region’s Top Young Professionals. The TYP program recognizes young professionals who represented the “best of the best” in their construction and design careers.

Hoffine, originally from Wichita, graduated from PSU in 2002 with a construction management degree. He is the operations manager for Hensel Phelps in Orlando, Fla.

“I've always been passionate about the construction industry and what opportunities it has to provide in all of our communities,” Hoffine said. “Pittsburg State helped start me on my path to a successful career.  It is truly humbling to be acknowledged by ENR and my peers for my contributions to the industry and to the future generation interested in this field."
