PSU campus, its people are the focus of new exhibit

The Pittsburg State University campus and its people are the stars of a new exhibit that opened on Saturday, Oct. 8, in the art gallery of the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

Images” is comprised of 70 of the uncounted thousands of photos taken by Malcolm Turner, who was university photographer at PSU for 30 years. Turner retired in June.

Although many are familiar with Turner’s work over the years, the exhibit presents the images in ways they have never before been seen. Miller's Professional Imaging/MPIX, the university’s corporate partner for this special presentation, produced the photographs, many on a grand scale appropriate for the soaring walls and big open spaces in the new gallery.

The exhibit opened to the public for the first time from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, and after the Homecoming football game that day until 8 p.m.  The video featured above showcases the story behind the images, and features Malcolm Turner.

“Images” will remain on display in the gallery throughout the fall semester.  Reprints of images presented within the exhibit may be ordered online.  To learn more about prices, size options and to view the "Images by Malcolm Turner" offered for reprints, visit the following link on the Bicknell Center webpage: bicknellcenter.com/photostore

The actual prints on display in the Bicknell Center gallery space will be made available to the public later this academic year, once the exhibit ends.  Proceeds from the sale of these prints will go towards a PSU scholarship in Malcolm Turner's honor.
