Concert features String Madness students

High school stringed instrument musicians from Kansas City, Shawnee Mission, Pittsburg, Independence, Lawrence and Fort Scott in Kansas and Neosho and Carl Junction in Missouri will spend Thursday, Oct. 27, honing their skills at Pittsburg State University. The annual workshop is aptly named “String Madness.”

The students will comprise a large orchestra and will also have the opportunity to sign up for fiddling classes, jamming sessions, a cello ensemble and more breakout opportunities. PSU faculty members Hyerim Mapp and Raúl Munguía will co-teach the workshop.

The day’s activities will culminate in a free public concert at 7 p.m. in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall.
