Choirs present 2016 fall concert

The Choirs of Pittsburg State University will present their annual Fall Concert on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of Susan Marchant, the University Choir and PSU Chorale will feature a variety of works for diverse choral ensembles.

The concert program includes a variety of works ranging from Franz Liszt’s “Salve Regina” to Ethan McGrath’s “When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom’d,” which is based on Walt Whitman’s familiar poem. The choirs will also perform Kevin Memley’s arrangement of the “Shenandoah.”

Instrumentalists for the concert will be Wyatt Smith, trumpet; Daniel McDill and Gabriel Cozart, percussion; and Jung Hee Lee and Liping Xia, piano.

The concert, at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, will be held at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, 1711 S. Homer, is free and open to the public.

Averaging at 100 music majors and 40 minors, the PSU Department of Music is an accredited member of NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music. The department is located in historic McCray Hall, 205 E. Lindburg.
