Bicknell Center welcomes 100,000th visitor

Although less than two years old, the Bicknell Family Center at Pittsburg State University, welcomed it’s 100,000th visitor, on Oct. 27.

More than 200 area high school students attended a special, free performance of the Pitt State Theatre’s production of “Frankenstein,” on Oct. 27.

Bicknell Center Director Joe Firman said it was significant that it was a high school student who sent the center over the 100,000-mark.

“I believe that it’s important for young people to have exposure to the arts,” Firman said. “It sets the stage for an adult life that, because of the arts, is richer and more joyful.”

The Bicknell Center opened on Dec. 16, 2014. Since then, the center has hosted a wide array of concerts, theatrical performances, lectures and other events, including presentations by a former first lady and former president.

“The 100,000th visitor is a reminder of the impact this facility is having on the Four-State area,” Firman said.
