Regional duo to perform acoustic American folk at PSU

The Vogts Sisters, from Erie, Kansas, will perform a free concert of acoustic American folk music at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Bill and Dotty Miller Theater in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University.

Maggie Vogts, a 2013 Pittsburg State graduate, and her sister, Abigail, have been touring the Midwest since 2012, the same year their debut album, “Old time Noise,” was released.

Another album, “My Own Dixie,” was released in 2015 to positive reviews and regional and international radio airplay. The duo released their first co-produced album, “Homeward,” in June of this year.

The Vogts have garnered numerous awards in regional and international songwriting competitions, including their latest wins at the 2016 Walnut Valley Festival’s New Song Showcase and at the Ozark Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition in Eureka Springs, Ark. The young women have more than 24 original songs in their acoustic Americana-Folk act.

Admission is free, but donations will be taken at the door both before and after the concert. For more information, including music samples, visit the Vogts Sisters homepage at www.vogtssisters.com.
