The 2016-17 Solo and Chamber Music Series at Pittsburg State University opens on Sept. 16 with a performance by the Atlantic Brass Quintet. The series includes performances by the Donald Sinta Quartet, Pianist Ko-Eun Yi, the New York Woodwind Quintet, Mezzo-soprano Naomi Louisa O’Connell and the dynamic new music group Sybarite5.
Acclaimed as one of the top brass chamber ensembles in the world, the Atlantic Brass Quintet has performed all across the U.S. and on four continents. Founded in 1985, the ABQ has won six international chamber music competitions. The group’s repertoire spans five centuries and a broad spectrum of styles.
Tickets for individual performances are $12 for general admission and $8 for persons over 65 or under 18. Full-time PSU students are admitted without charge. All performances in the Solo and Chamber Music Series are at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharon Kay Dean Performance Hall in McCray Hall, 205 E. Lindburg.
