Wallace returns to student diversity office

During his time at Pittsburg State University from 2006 to 2009, Harold Wallace III served as student coordinator of the university’s Office of Student Diversity. And while he ended up graduating from Wichita State University, Wallace is now back at Pitt State to pick up where he left off.

Wallace was recently named assistant director of student diversity programs. In that role, he will focus on development, enhancement and execution of programs to attract, retain and graduate diverse students. He will also help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students.

Deatrea Rose, director of student diversity programs, said the university is excited to have Wallace back on campus.

“We are delighted to have Harold return as a full time employee to the Office of Student Diversity,” Rose said. “As a former PSU student, Harold worked in our office and we believe that after being away from the university, he has developed a unique skill set and vast experience that will benefit our students.”

Prior to returning to Pitt State, Wallace served as the coordinator of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Central Oklahoma.

“This year marks 10 years since I first stepped foot on Pitt State’s campus, and I’m very excited to be back,” Wallace said. “The university is flourishing, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help enhance our diversity efforts during this time of tremendous campus growth.”

Wallace earned a bachelor of arts degree in ethnic studies and sociology from Wichita State University in 2011. In 2015, he earned a masters of science degree in college student development personnel from Arkansas Tech University.
