Petersen to lead University Development

Kathleen Flannery, vice president for university advancement at Pittsburg State University, has announced the appointment of Bradley J. Petersen as executive director of university development at PSU. Petersen, who has more than 20 years of fundraising experience, will oversee all of PSU’s fundraising activities.

“Mr. Petersen brings a wealth of experience and a record of success to this very important position on our campus,” Flannery said. “Pittsburg State University has a long and respected history of private support for the university and its students. I am confident Mr. Petersen will not only nurture that tradition but lead the development staff in increasing that support in the years ahead.”

Petersen, a certified fund raising executive, earned a BBA in management from Texas A&M University, and an MS with an emphasis in healthcare administration and human performance technology from Texas State University.

Petersen has been a full-time fundraiser since 1995. His work experience includes service with the American Red Cross; Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas; LDS Philanthropies in Rexburg, Idaho; and Project REAL in Las Vegas, Nevada. For LDS Philanthropies, Petersen raised money for three universities, one college and an international humanitarian program.

In addition to his work with non-profit entities, Petersen has also started his own development company and has assisted in starting other businesses. He is a partner in a small firm that works with multiple universities to help them increase research funding by turning new research and technologies into capital.

Petersen said he was both thrilled and honored to join the Pittsburg State family.
