KRPS hires new program director

A Pittsburg State alumnus has been selected as the new program director at KRPS Radio.

Dustin Treiber, a 2005 graduate of Pittsburg State, was hired this month to lead programming at KRPS, 89.9FM. Treiber has more than five years of experience in the broadcasting industry and has earned multiple broadcasting awards.

The KRPS Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the on-air sound of KRPS. Duties include supervising on-air staff, hosting a daily on-air shift, participation in rotating weekend responsibilities, playing a key role in on-air fundraising, and reporting on and producing local features.

Missi Kelly, KRPS general manager, said Treiber’s experience and quality of work made him a prime candidate for the position.

“Dustin, a PSU graduate, is coming back home in a way, and we’re excited to welcome him back to campus,” Kelly said. “His work experience has provided him with an exceptional blend of broadcasting and management expertise. Those skills, combined with Dustin’s award-winning broadcasting talent, will be a tremendous asset to KRPS.”

Treiber spent four years at My Town Media, where he served as production manager for 11 radio stations. He also spent one year as production director for KKOW radio.  In 2010 and 2011, Treiber earned eight broadcasting awards from the National Association of Broadcasters.

Treiber graduated from Pitt State in 2005 with a bachelor of science in technology with a major in graphics communication management. He also earned a minor in business administration.
