Dean Grimes honored by FSCC

Paul Grimes, dean of the Kelce College of Business at Pittsburg State University, was honored this week as the Fort Scott Community College Outstanding Alumnus for 2016.

Paul GrimesGrimes, who earned an associate degree in business administration from FSCC in 1978, was selected for the honor by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. He will be honored at 2 p.m. Friday, May 13, at reception at FSCC. At 4 p.m. Friday, he will speak at the FSCC graduation ceremony.

“I’m honored to receive the Outstanding Alumnus award from FSCC,” Grimes said. “I enjoyed my time as a student in Fort Scott, and those years helped me a build a solid base upon which I built my future educational and professional experiences.”

After earning his associate degree from FSCC, Grimes earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Pittsburg State. He then earned his Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University. Prior to his appointment as dean of the Kelce College of Business in 2011, Grimes served more than 20 years as a faculty member and administrator at Mississippi State University.

Gina Shelton, 2002 graduate of Pittsburg State, was also honored by FSCC this week. Shelton, who earned a bachelor of business administration degree from PSU, was named the Outstanding Young Alumna by the FSCC Alumni and Friends Board of Directors. She graduated from FSCC in 1999 with an associate of science degree. Shelton will also be recognized at Friday’s 2 p.m. ceremony at FSCC.
