Theatre presents The Shape of Things

The Pittsburg State University Theatre will conclude its 2015-2016 season April 21-24 with a presentation of Neil LeBute’s contemporary play, “The Shape of Things.” The production will open at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in the Miller Theater, located in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

The play will run nightly through Saturday, April 23. Matinee performances are scheduled at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24.

“The Shape of Things” is a provocative drama/dark comedy that follows four 20-somethings as their lives become intermingled through friendship and romance.

“The themes are very much relatable to college students and young people who have dealt with the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with dating,” said Director Caitlin Almond. “Manipulation in relationships is a very real and scary issue that should be talked about. This story allows for that discussion and presents an even more illuminating realization – that something like this could happen right here on this very campus.”

The production features a cast of four principle actors and four ensemble members, including Breezi Hancock as Evelyn, Logan Qualls as Adam, Jaley Hoyt as Jenny, and Jacob Terveer as Phillip.

Others working on the production include Linden Little, set and lighting design; Lisa Quinteros, costume design; Mary Lou Farmer, hair design; and Megan Reed, makeup design.

Tickets are $11 for the general public, $6 for persons under 17 or over 65, and free to PSU students, faculty and staff with a valid PSU photo ID. Tickets are available at the PSU Ticket Office, by phone at 620-235-4796, or online at http://www.pittstate.edu/office/tickets/. Tickets, if available, may also be purchased at the Miller Theater starting approximately 30 minutes before each performance.

The play is for mature audiences only due to adult language and sexual content.
