The Southeast Kansas Symphony will pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll at its spring pops concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University. The performance, “The Songs of Elvis,” will feature veteran singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Terry Mike Jeffrey.
Jeffrey began singing on stage at the age of 3. Fronting his own band since the early ‘70s, Jeffrey has performed all over the world.
Although he sings musical styles from most genres, Jeffrey is especially known for his presentation of Elvis Presley’s music, which he does without attempting to impersonate Presley. In recent years, he has performed Presley’s songs with symphony orchestras across the country, including those in Denver, Jacksonville, Birmingham, and more than a dozen appearances with the Memphis Symphony.
With the support of Graceland/EPE, and the original orchestra charts from the official Elvis archives, Jeffrey and his band blend with full orchestras in presenting their salute to the King of Rock & Roll.
Jeffrey is also a frequent guest DJ and performer on Sirius/XM’s Elvis Radio, and routinely sings with Elvis’ former band members and background singers.
Tickets for the performance are $15 and are available at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede P.E. Building, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796, or online at www.pittstate.edu/tickets. PSU students, faculty and staff are admitted without charge with a valid ID. If available, tickets may also be purchased at the door the evening of the performance.
