Earth Day concert celebrates natures beauty

The Pittsburg State University Choirs will celebrate Earth Day 2016 with a concert that celebrates the beauty of nature and the precious gift of the planet that serves as our home.

The choirs will present “For the Beauty of the Earth: Music in Celebration of Earth Day,” at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall of the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at PSU. The concert is free and open to the public.

Susan Marchant, who directs the choirs, said the program will include a range of music from the 16th through the 21st centuries. The PSU Choral Ensembles will be featured in the performance of a cappella works as well as collaborative compositions in which they will be joined by instrumentalists from the university.

Although the music spans 600 years of history, Marchant said, the common theme is the beauty of Earth and of nature.

The Bicknell Center is located at 1711 S. Homer in Pittsburg.
