The curtain came down on Pittsburg State University’s Best of Broadway series this week with “Beauty and the Beast.” Organizers said the smash hit show was an appropriate ending to a series designed to christen the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.
Bicknell Center Director Joe Firman said the demands of three very different Broadway productions highlighted the flexibility of the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall and showcased the abilities of our student staff to make productions such as these come together so perfectly.
“The Bicknell Center and her staff performed beautifully,” Firman said. “For the public, the Best of Broadway Series was an opportunity to see some of the world’s best entertainment. Our students got a chance to learn the art of stagecraft from three professional and very different touring groups. And it was a great chance for us to showcase what this facility can do in the years ahead.”
More than 6,400 people attended the six performances of the three shows in the series, which was underwritten by Via Christi Hospital.
