Wood technology companies from across the country will get a close-up look at potential employees this week during Wood Tech Company Days at Pittsburg State University’s Kansas Technology Center.
More than 30 companies are expected to attend this year’s event, which takes place Thursday and Friday (Feb. 25-26). The event begins at noon Thursday with a kick-off luncheon, followed by various company presentation and displays.
Company displays and interviews will take place from 8:15 to 11:25 a.m. Friday.
“This is a wonderful event that educates our students about the opportunities and career pathways that exist for them,” Doug Hague, assistant professor in PSU’s technology and workforce learning, said. “We have companies from across the country that come to Pittsburg State to recruit our students, and we think that speaks volumes about the quality of program we have here.”
For the students, the event provides opportunities for networking with a variety of industry professionals.
“The really nice thing is that these companies are coming to us,” Hague said. “Students don’t have to go out and search for possible employers. They’re all right here, and they can compare them side-by-side. It’s a good opportunity to see what’s available to them."
