Doc Severinsen headlines Jazz Festival

Jazz legend Doc Severinsen will be the special guest artist for Pittsburg State University’s 42nd annual Jazz Festival Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, in Pittsburg’s Memorial Auditorium.

A Grammy-Award winner with more than 30 albums to his credit, Serverinsen first earned his fame in 1962 as the bandleader for the “Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.”

In 1992, following the show’s 30-year reign, Doc Severinsen and His Big Band hit the road with a repertoire that includes Ellington and Basie standards, pop, jazz, ballads, big band classics and event “The Tonight Show” theme.

Today, Severinsen is still blowing up a storm, displaying his flair for outrageous fashion statements and sharing his trademark wit.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children under 17 and seniors over 65 as well as current military and veterans with a valid military ID. PSU students are free with ID. Tickets are on sale now at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede Physical Education Building, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796, www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
