The Kelce Planetarium will open its spring semester of planetarium shows on Tuesday, Feb. 9, with “From Earth to the Universe,” with a new planetarium film directed by the young Greek filmmaker Theofanis N. Matsopoulos, and featuring a sweeping soundtrack from Norwegian composer Johan B. Monell.
The night sky, both beautiful and mysterious, has been the subject of campfire stories, ancient myths and awe for as long as there have been people. “From Earth to the Universe” takes viewers on a voyage through time and space and conveys, through an arresting combination of sights and sounds, the universe revealed to us by science. Along the way, the audience will learn about the history of astronomy, the invention of the telescope, and today’s giant telescopes that allow us continue to probe ever deeper into the universe.
In addition to “From Earth to the Universe,” the February planetarium shows include “Dark,” and “Back to the Moon.”
The planetarium shows for February, all on Tuesdays, are:
February 9: “From Earth to the Universe,” 6 p.m.; “Dark,” 7 p.m.
February 16: “From Earth to the Universe,” 6 p.m.; “Back to the Moon,” 7 p.m.
