Exhibit features campus talent

The newest exhibit to open in Pittsburg State University’s Harry Krug Gallery highlights the artistic talents of people on the Pitt State campus. “Collective Fusion” includes the work of faculty, staff and friends of the PSU Museum of Art. The exhibit, which opens on Friday, Jan. 22, runs through April 7.

A related lecture series, “Interdisciplinary Education through the Arts (IDEA),” will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Feb. 18, in the Sunflower Room in the Overman Student Center. Lecturers that day will speak on subjects related to the theme of “Collective Memories.” The reception for the exhibition will be held at 4 p.m. on Feb. 18, in the Harry Krug Gallery.

Rhona McBain, director of the museum, said there is hidden talent among faculty and staff all over campus.

“I truly enjoy this exhibition,” McBain said. “Seeing the creativity that everybody brings is somewhat akin to the feelings you get unwrapping an unexpected gift -- wondrous and grateful.”

Barbara Jemison, who works in PSU’s Purchasing Department, is exhibiting her work for the first time.

“I look forward to the feedback of my peers and colleagues to help me grow,” Jemison said.

The Harry Krug Gallery is located in Porter Hall, 202 E. Cleveland, and is open from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, call the PSU Department of Art at 620-235-4302, or visit their website at www.pittstate.edu/art.
