Spirit Squad hosts cheer clinic

The Pittsburg State Spirit Squad will host its first College Prep Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Weede Physical Education Building, 1601 S. Homer.

The purpose of the clinic is to prepare aspiring college cheerleaders for future tryouts. Current high school and college students are invited to attend.

“The clinic is for anyone who is interested in becoming a college cheerleader,” said Chelsah Douglas, sophomore member of the PSU Spirit Squad. “They don’t necessarily have to be planning to try out for our team. We just want to reach out and help aspiring cheerleaders accomplish their goals.”

Clinic attendees will meet current PSU Spirit Squad members and practice stunting and tumbling with the team.

Cost for the clinic is $40 per person for those who register by Dec. 10. Same-day registration will be available for $50. The registration fee is to be mailed to Spirit Squad Coach Linda Graham, 908 Ohio Street, Pittsburg, KS, 66762. Checks should be made out to Pitt Cheer.

Those under the age of 21 must have a parent or guardian sign a liability waiver before participating in the clinic. The signed waiver should be mailed with payment.

Registration and check-in will begin at noon on Dec. 12. The stunt/tumble portion will begin at 1 p.m.
