PSU launches online GUS Portal

To help students, faculty and staff navigate the many IT resources available on campus, Pittsburg State has launched what is being described as a “one-stop shop” for a variety of online functions.

The GUS Portal places in one convenient location various IT resources ranging from campus wifi and wireless printing to email and Microsoft Office programs. The portal will launch to all of campus on Monday, Oct. 12.

“This is a one-stop-shop for campus wide IT resources, which alleviates hunting for links and keeping a plethora of bookmarks,” said Angela Neria, Pitt State chief information officer. “The new GUS Portal is responsive to mobile devices, which means that the portal itself is very easy to read and access on mobile devices.”

One of the main benefits of GUS Portal is the Single-Sign-On (SSO) capabilities. Once a student or staff member signs on to the portal, they can access a variety of campus resources without having to sign in to each individual program or function.

“This type of SSO capability is something we haven’t had before on campus,” Neria said. “The icons on the GUS Portal with a check mark indicate that these resources are SSO enabled. That means that once you sign in to one of these resources you will not have to login to others that are also SSO enabled in the same session.”
