Marine Corps Band New Orleans to perform at PSU

The U.S. Marine Corps Band New Orleans will perform a free public concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall of the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University.

Formed in 1978, the Marine Corps Band New Orleans is comprised of active duty Marines stationed at the Marine Corps Support Facility in New Orleans. The band supports all units of the Fourth Marine Logistics Group, Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Fourth Marine Division, and Force Headquarters Group.

Each year, the band travels across the U.S., entertaining more than 6 million people in more than 280 concerts, parades and ceremonies. The members of the band are trained riflemen, fulfill all annual Marine Corps physical and combat fitness requirements, participate in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and, when directed by the commanding general, serve as part of a security element in conflicts and exercises around the globe. There are several members of the current ensemble who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and the principle conductor also served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

The band is under the direction of bandmaster Gunnery Sergeant Jeffrey A. Frank.
