Jazz Ensembles perform Oct. 5

The Pittsburg State University Jazz Ensembles will open their 2015-2016 season with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, the Linda and Lee Scott Performance Hall of the Bicknell Center for the Arts.

The two groups, under the direction of University Professors Todd Hastings and Robert Kehle, will present a diverse program ranging from jazz standards like “Freddie Freeloader,” by Miles Davis, and “Chameleon,” by Herbie Hancock to works by Duke Ellington and Slide Hampton. The program will include music from the big bands like Doc Severinsen’s Tonight Show Band, the Diva Jazz Orchestra, the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, and more.
