Alcohol Awareness speaker: DUI can be costly

Getting a ticket for driving under the influence can be costly in a lot of ways. That’s the message that Karen Wittman, from the Kansas Attorney General’s Office will bring to the Pittsburg State University campus on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Whitman will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom as part of the campus observance of Alcohol Awareness Week. She will talk about the legal process; the cost of getting a DUI, which is up to $10,000; the effect a DUI has on auto insurance; background checks; employment screenings and more.

Whitman’s presentation is free and open to the public. Two free skybox tickets for the PSU-MSSU football game on Oct. 31 will be given away at the close of the presentation.
