The Korean Student Association at Pittsburg State University will host a Korean Thanksgiving Day celebration, also known as Chuseok, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, in the United Methodist Campus Ministry building, 201 E. Williams.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include information about Korean culture and samples of traditional Korean foods such as bibimbap and jeyuk-bokkeum. There will traditional games, such as ddak-ji, Korean writing lessons and other activities associated with Korean culture.
Like other harvest festivals around the world, Korean Thanksgiving Day coincides with the autumnal equinox. In Korea, many city-dwellers return to their ancestral homes in the countryside during this time, where they honor their ancestors.
