Solo & Chamber Series opens with WindSync

Pittsburg State University’s long-running Solo and Chamber Music Series begins its 2015-2016 season at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11, in the Sharon K. Dean Recital Hall, with a performance by the Houston-based woodwind ensemble, WindSync.

WindSync has distinguished itself among classical music ensembles as one of North America’s foremost emerging wind quintets. The ensemble’s mission is to “enrich the lives of children, families, and all members of the community through innovative, interactive chamber music concerts and educational programs.”

The energetic group plays exclusively from memory, including elements of staging and choreography.

Winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh International Competition, WindSync has performed across North America and around the world in venues ranging from concert halls to museums, universities and schools, and even national parks.

Tickets for the WindSync performance are $12 for general admission and $8 for persons over 65 or under 18. PSU students with a valid ID are admitted free. Complete season and an “any-four” ticket packages are available at a discount. Tickets are available at the PSU Ticket Office, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796, or online, www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
