PSU welcomes international students

Students from around the world are getting to know Pittsburg State and the local community this week. They have come from places like China, India, Saudi Arabia and even the tiny island nation of Palau, but now they are all Pitt State Gorillas.

Stephanie Gonzalez, programming coordinator for International Programs and Services, said the week-long orientation for new international students covers a lot of practical information like banking, transportation and academics, but it is also a time for students to settle into their new surroundings.

“We want them all to feel welcome at Pittsburg State,” Gonzalez said.

Students expressed that welcome message in a variety of languages in the form of sidewalk chalk on Tuesday.

Classes for all Pitt State students begin on Monday, Aug. 17.
