Broadway tickets for campus, Via Christi employees

Pittsburg State University’s ticket office will hold a special season ticket sale to its upcoming “Best of Broadway” series for full-time students, faculty and staff and Via Christi employees on Friday, August 14.

The sale, which is limited to students, faculty and staff and Via Christi employees, will take place at the university ticket office and begin at 8:30 a.m. The first 200 individuals from each group, with a valid university or Via Christi photo ID, will be able to purchase one season ticket at a reduced price and select their seat. Total tickets sales will be limited to six season tickets per person as quantities allow.

The university is able to offer the discounted tickets due, in part, to the program’s underwriter, Via Christi Hospital.

“They understand the importance of this type of programming for our community,” said Kathleen Flannery, interim vice president for University Advancement. “We’re especially happy that our students will have the opportunity, some for the first time, to experience live Broadway theatre.”

The general public will be able to purchase season tickets, and select their seats, on Wednesday, August 19.

Pre-sale tickets to the series, which features national Broadway touring performances of “Mamma Mia,” “The Million Dollar Quartet,” and “Beauty and the Beast,” have been open to the general public through ShoFar Concerts since Tuesday, July 21.

“The response has been nothing short of amazing,” said Joe Firman, director of the Bicknell Center for the Arts. “Our producer, ShoFar Concerts, sold more than 500 tickets during the first 72 hours. We knew the Bicknell Center would offer our region new opportunities. It’s wonderful to see Broadway fans respond with such vigor.”

Seat assignments for anyone purchasing season tickets through ShoFar Concerts will be made prior to August 14. These tickets will be mailed in early September.

Any remaining individual show tickets will be available on Tuesday, September 8.

“Mamma Mia” and “Million Dollar Quartet” will feature two performances, a 2 p.m. matinee and 7:30 p.m. evening show. “Beauty and the Beast” will have a single, 7:30 p.m. evening show.
