PSU hosts information systems conference

Pittsburg State University and the Kelce College of Business hosted the 10th annual Midwest Association for Information Systems Conference this spring at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

The MWAIS Conference brings together information services professionals from 12 Midwestern states, all of whom are members of the national Association for Information Systems (AIS). AIS is a professional association for individuals and organizations who lead the research, teaching, practice, and study of information systems worldwide.

The conference was beneficial for attendees and Pittsburg State alike.

“MWAIS is the part of the Association of Information Systems, which is the single most important organization in information systems areal,” said Jae Choi, assistant professor of ACIS at Pitt State. “Hosting an influential conference like this significantly increases the visibility of PSU at the national level. Dr. Peter Rosen (ACIS chair) personally brought this conference to PSU and implemented it meticulously.”

Daniel Power, professor of management and information systems at the University of Northern Iowa, said the conference was beneficial for various reasons.

“MWAIS 2015 at Pitt State was a very worthwhile conference for me,” he said. “The papers were interesting and diverse.  I renewed professional friendships and made new ones.”

Attendees said they also enjoyed the opportunity visit the new Bicknell Center at Pitt State.

“I've participated in many leading academic conferences all over the world,” Choi said. “The Bicknell Center is by far the most state-of-the-art facility in which I’ve presented my study.”
