Students win district advertising awards

Four Pittsburg State University graphics and imaging technologies students were recognized for creativity by the District 9 American Advertising Awards.

Amanda Reno, a senior from Stilwell, Kan., earned a gold award and will advance to national competition. Three students, Haily Ayers, a senior from Lansing, Kan.; Stanton Sailsbury, a senior from Pittsburg; and Nick Taylor, a senior from Shawnee, Kan., earned silver awards.

Reno received a gold award for her design and development of the Tour Chablekal mobile application, which provides travel information for the city of Chablekal, Mexico.

The silver awards went to:

Ayres for her design of NATURale packaging.

Sailsbury for his development of “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Solar System” iPad application.

Taylor for a pen tool illustration titled “Purple Haze.”

The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 50,000 entries every year in local American Advertising Awards competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising.
