Group marks Equal Pay Day with discussion

The Women’s Studies Club at Pittsburg State University will hold a panel discussion at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, in 101 Whitesitt Hall as part of the national Equal Pay Day observance. The panel will discuss “Women in the Workforce: Practical Advice for Starting Your Career.”

In addition to providing information about pay equity, the event will feature short presentations from experienced professionals in fields like construction, personnel management, entrepreneurship, culinary arts, and health care. Each panelist will tell stories from her own work experience and offer advice to women who are either beginning their careers or making a change in the direction of their careers.

A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion, which will be an opportunity for networking and mentoring to attendees. The event is free and open to the public.
