Exhibit features work of senior art students

“Home Grown,” an exhibit featuring the work of Pittsburg State University senior art students, will open in the Porter Hall Second Floor Gallery on Tuesday, April 7. The student artists will talk about their work from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, in 103 Porter Hall.

According to Rhona McBain, chair of the Department of Art, said the title for the show reflects the way that the seven unique artists represented in the exhibit have shared an intimate connection to the lands and communities of the Four-State area.

“Through our time here within the Pittsburg State University Art Department, our experiences have intertwined, creating our own symbiotic support system,” the students wrote in a statement about their pieces. “Though our histories and creative expression may differ wildly, we could not have fully grown into what we have become without each other.”

The artists represented in the exhibit are Lisa Bogart, Kelli Carter, Lauren Downing, Jared Jennings, Jeremy Kelly, Rudi Rodebush, and Sylvia Schultze. “Home Grown” will be on display through April 17. The Second Floor Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Porter Hall is located at 202 E. Cleveland on the PSU campus.
