Group lists PSU online masters degree education programs among nations best

Teach Tomorrow, an online service for persons considering careers in education, has ranked Pittsburg State University 35th in the nation on its list of the Best Online Master’s in Education Degrees.

According to Teach Tomorrow, the group considered a number of factors as they compiled their list of the best online master’s degree programs.

“The schools that earned top spots on our Best Online Master’s in Education Programs list showed a winning combination of affordability, quality and support services to help students earn the advanced credential they need,” the organization wrote on their website.

Key scoring metrics included online tuition cost, academic and career counseling services and job placement services for graduates. The organization also used “Peer-Based Value,” its own metric that compares the quality score of a program to the scores of other programs in an attempt to determine the “cost/quality value of an online Master’s in education program.”

Alice Sagehorn, chair of the Department of Teaching and Leadership in PSU’s College of Education, said the Teach tomorrow ranking is recognition of the university’s efforts to ensure that the online master’s degree programs the university offers are of the highest quality.

“The Department of Teaching and Leadership faculty have made every effort to ensure that we offer excellent and effective graduate programs that positively impact teachers, principals, superintendents and P-16 students,” Sagehorn said.

Pawan Kahol, dean of graduate and continuing studies, said he is very happy for both the faculty and the leadership of the PSU’s College of Education.

“Our ranking among the top online graduate education programs in the nation is a deserving tribute to our hardworking faculty members who are providing exemplary teaching to students through online education,” Kahol said.

Pittsburg State University offers six online master’s degree programs in education as well as an online ESOL endorsement program. In addition, the university offers two hybrid master’s degree programs in education that combine both online and on-campus courses.
